Hernandez's Fame Amounts to Nothing

The murder of Odin Lloyd by Aaron Hernandez began trial last January. Only now are the final verdicts emerging. Hernandez, a former tight end for the New England Patriots, was accused with murder, carrying an unlawful firearm, and carrying unlawful ammunition (a sentence that he has already served). Yesterday, for the charge of murder, he was given the sentence of life without parole. Throughout the trial, Hernandez was relatively calm while the mother of Odin Lloyd, Ursula, had no control over her emotions. It was quite angering to hear that when the final verdict was released, Ursula got up, pumped her fist, then proceeded to hug and congratulate the jury members. This rash, inconsiderate reaction is extremely inconsiderate. No matter what, a person being sent to prison for life is not a happy occasion. On the contrary, not a single jury member would look at Hernandez and then after acted solemn and melancholy due to the seriousness of what happened. Do you think the mother's actions were justified? Or are the reactions of the jury more considerate?

You can read more into how the trial unfolded here:

All this eventually amounts to nothing more than a person going to person for murder. No matter who it could have been, whatever fame or recognition they previously had would be washed away. Football player, actor, musician, or even the president. None of it would make a difference. This only goes to show that no one is above the law. Anyone can be convicted regardless of your stature.
It's a good lesson for us to realize that we aren't above anybody else. In the end, we are all treated the same.
